Teen Sentenced To 25 Years In Death Of Yonkers Baseball Player

Nashaun Hunter of the Bronx pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the first degree, a Class E felony. 

Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 18 last year, Nolan was standing outside of his Mercedes outside at the Burger King on Central Park Avenue in Yonkers when six shots rang out of the Toyota Camry being driven by the four defendants, with one of the bullets hitting Nolan in the head.

An  investigation was carried out by the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, the Yonkers Police Department and the Westchester County Intelligence Center. 

The investigation revealed that the shooting was in retaliation for the beating of an individual known to Hunter and related to events that began during a drag race two nights before the shooting, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's office.

Detectives found .25 caliber shell casings at the scene. A .25 caliber bullet was recovered from the victim’s body. No gun was ever recovered, according to the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. 

Last month, Tejmitra Singh, a 23-year-old Bronx resident, was sentenced to 11 years in state prison after pleading guilty to assault in the first degree, a Class B violent felony.

Darren Dawson, a 19-year-old Bronx resident, was sentenced to nine years after pleading guilty to assault in the first degree.

Garth O'Neil Cole, a 23-year-old Mount Vernon resident, pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a Class C violent felony and will be sentenced next month.
